A Guide To Ace Mathematics in JEE Main 2025

In JEE Main 2025, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are core subjects. However, in all practicalities, mathematics is more important than the two. Why? Well, the answer lies in its foundational value. Almost every numerical question in Chemistry and Physics requires knowledge of calculus, differential equations and quadratic equations. Thus, IIT JEE aspirants must not take mathematics lightly. 

Now, the big question is how to manage the preparation of Mathematics for JEE Exams 2025. In this post, we will focus exactly on finding the answer to this question. While the suggestions made in this post generally apply to JEE Main and JEE Advanced 2025, there may be a few differences here and there which will be highlighted. 

Without further ado, here is a list of the top tips for excelling in Mathematics for JEE Exams 2025. 

1. Know the important topics 

You have a few months left until the exams. This means you have to be smart in how you go about the preparation. The first step in this process is identifying the important topics to be covered in JEE Main Maths. 

We will start with Coordinate Geometry. The most important topics within Coordinate Geometry are 2D Geometry, Conic Sections, and Straight Lines. 

Then comes Calculus, which shares about 40 per cent of the weightage in JEE Main. Some suggestions in Calculus include Functions, Definite Integration, Differential Equations, Application Derivatives, and Area Under Curves. 

Another topic you need to focus on is 3D geometry and vectors. Critical areas in this topic include direction cosines, section formulas, coplanar lines, and direction ratios. 

JEE aspirants will also have to prioritise Algebra, in which attention will have to be given to quadratic equations, permutations and combinations, complex numbers, and the binomial theorem. 

Finally, it is trigonometry. Since it is a formula-based subject, students must remember the formulas. The revision will help them remember them for exams. 

2. Identify the chapter-wise weightage 

Right after having identified the important chapters and topics thereunder, it is time to analyse the distribution of marks across the various topics in both  JEE Main and JEE Advanced. 

Let us take up JEE Main first. Based on the analysis of the last few years’ papers, coordinate geometry, limits, continuity & differentiability, and integral calculus occupy the maximum number of questions, with coordinate geometry managing the highest. 

On the other side, in JEE Advanced, differential & integral calculus is where the number of questions is more. Coordinate geometry comes close, followed by Trigonometry, Vector & 3D, and Matrices. 

Smart strategy would mean focussing more on the questions bearing higher weightage. However, this does not mean that you completely forsake preparing less important chapters for JEE Maths 2025. 

3. Schedule everything right

Being a foundational subject for all other core subjects, Mathematics occupies a significant portion of your daily routine. By now you know what the syllabus is, but have limited time in your hands. So, it is time to revise your timetable and include what is most necessary. 

Of course, you cannot invest all day and night in JEE Maths. Other subjects require your attention. And, if you have board exams alongside, then your schedule will surely be cramped. 

General suggestions, therefore, include revising your concepts alternatively and allocating one day, preferably weekends, to practice mock tests. Don’t skip consulting with your instructors about your performance on mock tests hence, schedule an appointment with them for the same. 

4. Get The Books for IIT JEE Main 2025 Mathematics

Whether it is JEE Main or JEE Advanced, you will have to go back and forth between the books to keep your mind sharp. By the time you read this article, you will have already been reading or have read several books. Nevertheless, in the last few months, the following books will be of best use.

• Problems in Calculus of One Variable by I.A. Maron

Now, it is not compulsory to buy and read all the aforementioned books. You will, however, have to independently analyse where you are comfortable reading from a general preparation book and where you might require topic-specific books. It is also important to go through the notes taught in the coaching classes and do the module systematically. 

Watch Online Lectures To Revise 

IIT JEE exams 2025 will come by before you realise it. During this time, you must ensure you are updated on the concepts. While books are the best source material for revision, online lectures are easier and more convenient to revise and practice. 

Several coaching institutes in Sikar run pan-Indian YouTube channels where you can find instructors taking up revision of IIT JEE Math concepts. For instance, Unacademy JEE runs a series of class 11th revisionary lectures for JEE Main. Aside from coaching-run lectures, several notable instructors have put up videos to explain JEE Math questions such as the famed HC Verma. 

Practice Mock Tests 

The greatest advantage of mock tests is they paint a detailed picture of where you stand after having prepared for a year or more. In the last few months before JEE Main and JEE Advanced, you will need practice. Practice will enhance your muscle memory and logical reasoning, which in turn help you manage time well. 

Several Sikar Coaching Institutes have curated collections of online and offline mock tests with extensive analysis opportunities. These institutes include Matrix JEE Academy, Allen Sikar, Gurukripa Sikar and Aakash Sikar. However, if you want to explore more mock test series, many are freely available online; for example, Vedantu JEE has a playlist comprising a series of IIT JEE Maths lectures. 

 

Analyse the previous years’ papers 

IIT JEE Maths 2025 can be challenging, especially if you skip this particular suggestion. It is the analysis of the previous years’ IIT JEE Main & JEE Advanced papers that helps us understand the likely pattern of question papers. Such analysis increases predictability, which is crucial for preparation. 

You must attempt at least the last five years’ question papers and discuss the same with your teachers. Upon comparison, you will know which areas require your attention, where you are performing the best, and where you are consuming time the most.

JEE Advanced Maths 

While the post already has mentioned the topics where JEE Advanced gives more focus, JEE Advanced Maths must not taken lightly even if you have scored well in JEE Main. 

JEE Advanced is a doorway to IITs. JEE Main 2025 will focus on Class 11 and Class 12 CBSE syllabi including Physics, Chemistry, and Maths. However, the focus will shift in IIT JEE Advanced, with the paper comprising additional questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Maths. For instance, JEE Main does not cover Thermal Physics and Electrochemistry but JEE Advanced does. 

It is, therefore, strongly recommended that you keep yourself prepared for these additional subjects in advance. You must cover as many mock tests as you can in these areas to keep yourself in the loop. 

In essence, JEE Maths is not a piece of cake. It is the most critical of all subjects because its principles are applicable across the other subjects. Your practice in Maths should be regular which means you should follow the foregoing tips to increase your chances at IIT JEE Main 2025 and IIT JEE Advanced 2025.
